This December 10, Counting Crows will be back in Louisville for their third show in seven years. They’ve played Louisville Slugger Field, Iroquois Amphitheater, and now Louisville will see the Berkley, California-based band at Louisville Palace.
Counting Crows will be embarking on a December Midwest tour promoting their album “Somewhere Under Wonderland” that they released in September.
“Somewhere Under Wonderland” debuted at #6 on the Billboard 200 because of songs like “Palisades Park” an eight minute song that rehashes the lyric prowess and musical bounds that were exhibited previous hit “Mrs. Potter’s Lullaby.”
If you know Counting Crows, you know “Mr. Jones,” but something that I tell each person I know going to a Counting Crows show is do not expect to sing every lyric right along with singer Adam Duritz. He is incredible to watch on stage, but one part of his act is that he sing or talks every lyrics like he is reading it out of a personal diary he wrote yesterday still with the same emotion when he wrote it. It’s mesmerizing. Just let him do his thing.
Nonetheless, the band has been called one of the best live bands still out there. They play different setlists every night. They go on extended jams. Don’t expect to hear what’s on the record. Go to a Counting Crows to get more than that.
Tickets range from $29.50 to $85.00. Showtime is 7:30 p.m.
Joining as the tour’s supporting act will be Twin Forks, the folk rock band started in 2011 by Chris Carrabba (Dashboard Confessional, Further Seems Forever). They released their self-titled debut studio album in February 2014.
