If you're not from New Albany or Southern Indiana you might not know about Harvest Homecoming, aka, the time when you run into absolutely everyone you went to high school with and probably your whole family as well.
Jokes aside, Harvest Homecoming is a beloved Southern Indiana tradition, and one many Louisvillians treasure as well. Harvest Homecoming started October 4 and will go strong until October 12, so make sure you spend part of your weekend enjoying it!
1. Corn Hole Tournament, Friday October 10.
Time: 6:30pm
Location: Knights of Columbus, 809 E Main St, New Albany
Adult Corn Hole Tournament (ages 18 & over).
Double Elimination - $40.00 per team
1st place – $720.00 cash prize
2nd place – $360.00 cash prize
3rd place – $120.00 cash prize
2. Harvest Homecoming Open Car Show Saturday, October 11.
Registration: 9:00am - 1:00pm.
Awards Presentation: 3:30pm
Location: New Albany Riverfront
Admission: $15.00 per car.
Any type of stock, classic, show or race car, antique vehicles, trucks, motorcycles, any model, any year are welcome! Trophies for Mayor’s Choice, Best Ford, Best GM, Best Mopar, Best Other (Car), Best Street Rod, Best Bike, Best Flames, Best Paint, Best Interior, Best Engine, Largest Club Participation. Plus top 50 cars judged receive a Top Fifty Trophy. Dash plaques for the first 100 entries. Door prizes, DJ spinning oldies but goodies.
3. Costume Contest: Saturday October 11.
Location: Harvest Homecoming Stage
Registration: 11:30am. Contest begins at 12pm.
Location: Harvest Homecoming Stage on Market & State Street
Rain Location: Parking garage on Market & State Street.
Free for all ages. Judging Categories: 0-1 year; 1 year; 2 years; 3 years;
4-5 years; 6-8 years; 9-13 years; 14 years and up; group; and overall
winners (announced at end of contest).
4. Saturday Night on the Riverfront October 11.
Location: New Albany Riverfront
Admission: Free!
6:30pm - 7:15pm: The Hart Strings
7:30pm - 8:30pm: The Mad Taxpayers
8:45pm - 10pm: Rachel Timberlake
10:15pm - 12:00am: J.D. Shelburne
2. Crafts and Food Booths on Saturday, October 11 and October 12
Time: 9 a.m. - 10 p.m. Saturday, 12 p.m. - 5 p.m. Sunday
Location: New Albany
Cost: Free!
Enjoy pumpkin ice cream, crafts, local artisans and general country kitsch.
