According to a post made yesterday on Eater Louisville [4], the Eater family of websites has been purchased by
Vox
Media, and will be undergo "a momentous change" which will not include Louisville’s website:
"
The new Eater will still obsess over the lives of restaurants and chefs. It will be more beautiful, functional, and informative, with new powers and a new spirit of discovery to align with its ambitions to change the world of food journalism. But it will not include Louisville. Unfortunately, the reformed Eater will fold Louisville's restaurant and nightlife coverage into the national site."
Apparently, Louisville food news will be folded into the larger wings of a national Eater: "
Eater plans on staying current with what's happening with restaurants in Louisville. The city still has many stars and stories the world will want to know about."
Let's be honest, since (full disclosure, the previous Eater Louisville editor was also the Director of Content for Louisville.com) Zach Everson
left the building, Eater just lacked the juicy gossip factor that made worth a daily visit.
Also in the farewell post was a bit of nostalgia and perhaps, protest from Steve Hacker, Eater Louisville's most recent (and apparently final) editor: "
No Next Food Network Stars™ or super-juicy restaurant implosions happened on my editorship. However, we did struggle through the Polar Vortex along with everyone else..."
