According to an article by Sheldon S. Shafer of the Louisville Courier Journal, August 28, 2014, White Castle opened its first store in Louisville Kentucky in 1927 in the same block as the store shown in the photograph the design of which dates to 1991. The two photographs are 2007 images. The replacement store, Shafer reports, is expected to be complete in 4 to 5 months after a September closure.
