The Courier-Journal’s Jennie Rees is hosting her second Trackside with C-J Jennie event on Saturday, May 31 at Churchill Downs. I’ll join Jennie and racing analysts John Asher, Jill Byrne, Donna Barton Brothers, Ed DeRosa and Gary Palmisano in the Basics of Betting.
The event begins at noon and runs through 1:30 p.m. on May 31 in the Parlay, the new media center and simulcasting area (when the meet closes) just inside of Gate 1 at Churchill Downs. We’ll help you learn to read a program, make a wager, provide insider tips and more. If you get there by 11:30 a.m., you can watch Churchill Downs’ racing analyst Jill Byrne record her daily picks.
After the seminar, the party moves trackside to Section 117 where you can put what you’ve learned to the test as we watch and wager on the day’s live racing. The seating is undercover, so no need to worry about what the weather may hold. It’s also close to the betting windows and the concessions.
Churchill Downs’ new Summer N’ Spires Festival also occurs on May 31. The event in the Paddock Plaza will feature several local food trucks including: Grind, Holy Mole, Lil' Cheezers, Busta Grill and Louisville Dessert Truck. Live music will be provided by Thumper and the Plaid Rabbits and Mike Short and Outlaw Revival.
To join the Trackside with C-J Jennie event, register now at courier-journal.com/cjjennieevents. [4] Registration guarantees access to the Basics of Betting at the Parlay and a reserved seat with us in Section 117. The first 100 registrants will get free admission and a free program, but don’t worry if you’re registrant 101. General admission is only $3 and programs are $2. If you already know the basics of betting and just want to hang out and watch the races with us, feel free to skip the Parlay and join us in Section 117.
The last Trackside with C-J Jennie event filled up quickly, so don't wait!
