What: de Paul offers students with learning differences/ ADHD remediation or strengthening of academic skills in a comprehensive and engaging way.  Afternoon enrichment camps are also available.

Bug Hunters

What: This afternoon camp studies and stalks the most diverse group on our planet.  We do everything from looking at insects in amber to a bug safari.

Adult Programs: Close Encounters at the Louisville Zoo

What: Focus will be on the information related to animal husbandry, zoo conservation efforts, and why we do the things we do.

Animal Art Detectives

What: The Louisville Zoo and Speed Art Museum are teaming up.  Campers will become certified Art detectives where they will investigate both animals and art through unique hands-on activities. 

Dates: July 14-18; 9 a.m. -4 p.m.

Family Camp: Giant Bugs

What: Includes lots of information about the world of invertebrates, like tarantulas and butterflies.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Homeschool Programs: Claws and Nails

What: Students will look at patterns and formulate answers to questions about the world around them.  The Animal Puzzles look at different body parts and how these physical features help them survive.

What: Learn about the basics of biodiversity and the fascinating connections that make it vital for is to protect.

New Teen Tuesdays: Reptiles and Amphibians

What: What is the difference between reptiles and amphibians?  How can you tell which ones are venomous? Includes myths, facts and a tour of our HerpAquarium.

New Teen Tuesdays: Veterinary Visions

What: Learn about what it takes to be a zoo veterinarian.  Learn about the importance of preventative healthcare, and interesting cases our zoo vets have handled!

New Teen Tuesdays: Why Zoos?

What: Zoos have come a long way since there origins. Why are zoos so crucial? What career are required to operate a zoo? How do we care for our many animals?

Dates: June 10 & July 15, 9 a.m.- 4 p.m.

New Teen Tuesdays: Wild Service Day

What: Includes hands-on projects that will benefit that zoo.  Possible projects include work in our wetlands area, creating enrichment planters or other items for our animals.

Safari Day Camp: Adventures in Adaptations

What: From camouflage to echolocation, all animals have special characteristics that help them survive in their habitat.  Campers will discover extraordinary plant and animal survival techniques. 

Dates: June 2-6, 9 a.m.-noon; June 16-20, July 7-11, 21-25, Aug. 4-8, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Ages: Grades 3-4

Safari Day Camp: Animal Myth Busters

What: The animal world is full of myths, legends and sayings that are often not true.  Camperr will be busting myths all week. 

Dates: June 16-20, June 30-July 3, July 21-25, July 28- Aug. 1, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Ages: Grades 5-7

Safari Day Camp: Animals Around the Clock

What: Discover how the rhythm of the day and night and the season throughout the year affect animal behavior. 

Dates: June 9-13, 23-27, 9 a.m.-noon; June 30-July 3, 9 a.m. -4 p.m.; July 7-11, 9 a.m.- 4 p.m.; July 28- Aug. 1, 9 a.m.- noon

Safari Day Camp: Let’s Eat

What: Animals survive by eating a large variety of foods.  Includes a visit to the zoo’s commissary where most of the animal diets are prepared. 

Dates: June 2-6, 9 a.m.- noon, June 16-20, 9 a.m.- 4 p.m.; July 14-18, 9 a.m.-noon; July 21-25, Aug. 4-8, 9 a.m. -4 p.m.

Safari Day Camp: Planet of Plenty

What: Biodiversity is the variety of life on our planet.  Campers will learn about the wealth of habitats that house all life forms and the interconnections that tie us together. 

Dates: June 9-13, 9 a.m.-noon; June 23-27, 9 a.m.- 4 p.m.; June 30- July 3, July 14-18, July 28- Aug. 1, 9 a.m.- 4p.m.

Safari Day Camp: Zoo Exhibit Design

What: Learn what is required to create a new exhibit and design their own! Tours are planned so campers will understand the complexity of exhibit design. 

Dates: June 23-27, July 7-11, 14-18, Aug. 4-8; 9 a.m. -4 p.m.

Ages: Grades 5-7

Cost: $115- $275

Track ‘em, Sack ‘em, and Roar

What: Campers will track native wildlife at the Louisville Nature Center, learn basic tennis skills and good sportsmanship at the Louisville Tennis Center and spend the afternoon visiting the wild creatures at the Louisville Zoo. 

Dates: June 9-13, July 7-11, 9 a.m.- 4 p.m.

Ages: 8-12
