Organizations with a great idea for a project to promote public health, physical activity, good nutrition, smoking cessation or preventive care or management for chronic disease in Louisville are invited to apply for Mayor’s Healthy Hometown Mini Grants [4].

The grants for 2014 will be between $2,000 and $3,000, and are open to any organizations with annual budgets under $250,000.

This year’s call for applications lists the 2013 recipients, which include Feat of Louisville, for aquatic fitness and other services for children with autism; Girls on the Run, for a running program for young girls; and the Louisville Nature Center for a walking program and health screenings. Several other recipients of funds from last year are also listed, if you’re looking for ideas.

A technical assistance call will be held on March 18, for those with questions about the application. The final applications are due April 11, 2014.

The Mayor’s Healthy Hometown Movement [5] is 10 years old, and aims to make Louisville one of the healthiest cities in the country. Check out some of the free classes, activities and resources [6] and submit events on the website.
