Lovers of theatre lovers, act now. The Louisville scene is full of productions and events opening right around Valentine's Day.  

Kentucky Shakespeare presents Shakespeare in Love, a night of love scenes and sonnet performances, as well as music, dancing, drinks and desserts by Proof. Tickets to the February 1st fundraising Gala at the 21C Museum Hotel [4] are $175 per couple. They may be purchased online [5] or by calling 502-574-9900.

Continuing on a theme, the Kentucky Opera presents Romeo and Juliet, which will be sung in Italian with projected English subtitles. Tickets [6] start at $31 for the February 14 and 16 performances at the Brown Theatre.

Mind’s Eye Productions will hold a Valentine’s night performance of Monty Python’s Spamalot, at the Kentucky Center’s MeX Theatre. Tickets [7] are $16 for the production, which runs February 7-16.

Bunbury Theatre will also host a Valentine’s night show. Ages of the Moon, a dark comedy in true Sam Shepard style, takes place in rural Kentucky as two men, friends for 50 years, reunite at an old fishing shack. Tickets [8]are $21. The production runs February 7-23, and features Emmy-nominated actor Patrick Tovatt. Bunbury Theatre productions are held at the Henry Clay Theatre.

Derby Dinner Playhouse will present the final weekend of Don’t Dress for Dinner February 14-16. Tickets [9] for the comedy, which include dinner, are $40 for the Valentine’s night performance. Don’t Dress for Dinner performances are scheduled daily, excluding Mondays, until February 16.
