Have you heard of the popular hyper-local blog entitled Louisville Family Fun [4]? It should be on your radar if not before, then definitely now. Louisville Family Fun is a website dedicated to providing Louisville families with none other than, well, FUN! And they are teaming up with a natural gem in Oldham County to bring your family four hours nonstop of it this weekend, Sunday, July 21. It’s going to be an old-fashioned day of fun for your whole family at Creasey Mahan Nature Preserve [5].
There will be door prizes from Earth Fare [6], Kentucky Science Center [7], Sweet Frog Louisville [8], among others. There will be 25 or more various booths at the festival, all offering something fun for the children to participate in. It won’t be a typical set up in which vendors are selling their product: each booth has something to do with your kids! Some of the offerings are crafts for kids, free sunscreen for the family provided by Louisville Family Fun [4], water slides, face painting, jewelry making, dippin’ dots, free water provided by Louisville Water Company [9], and a fire hose splashdown from the North Oldham Fire Department [10]! This is just a sampling of what will be on hand at this fabulous outdoor family event. Your family will have a blast with all of this entertainment, but what may be even more surprising is if your family (like mine) has never been to Creasey Mahan [11], they are in for a treat all in itself. This beautiful nature preserve has so much to offer. What a fun way to explore it and take in the breathtaking views on their grounds!
The cost for admission is as follows: $2 for children ages 3 and up; $10/per family maximum; children under age 2 and parents are FREE. All proceeds from admission are going toward the Creasey Mahan Nature Preserve – it’s a fundraiser for the preserve. The event will run from 11am-3pm. There is also a free gift for the first 100 families who arrive. An ice cream eating contest is on tap at 2pm. Pizza from Papa John’s and other concessions from Fuzziwig’s Candy Factory [12] and Valley Dairy Freeze [13] will be on sale at a very affordable price.
