Like many, once Labor Day comes and goes, I start thinking of the fall and start shifting into that mode, which, with the way Louisville weather works, is a little premature. In September, we usually still have warm weather and lots of sunshine. This weekend, for instance, the weather is supposed to be more summer-y than most days were in June.
Sounds like a perfect time to head to Waterfront Park.
As luck would have it, the 14th annual Fleur De Lis Regatta is going on this weekend, September 6, 7 and 8 is happening this weekend at the Harbor Lawn marina next to the Great Lawn at Waterfront Park.
Thirty-plus sailboats will race for the trophy and there will also be live bands, arts and crafts, a drum circle and local food trucks. The public is welcome to come down and cheer on their favorite sailors.
For this year’s Regatta, the Sailing for a Cure Foundation [4] has teamed up with Gilda's Club of Louisville [5] to help raise funds in support of Gilda’s Club’s mission of supporting and empowering all people who are impacted by cancer.
So, get out this weekend, support a good cause, enjoy some sailing, local food and music and enjoy the last vestiges of summer.
