Theatre of the absurd in its earliest form is perfect for Savage Rose to take on eight times in two days when they perform The Bald Soprano this weekend.
The Bald Soprano will take place on Aug. 30 and 31 at 6, 8, 10 p.m., and midnight both nights. All performances are to happen at The Bard's Town, located at 1801 Bardstown Road [4] in the Highlands.
Tickets for each show are $10 per person and can be purchased in advance by calling 502-599-3011. A limited number may also be sold at the door.
The Bald Soprano [5] is considered the earliest example of theatre of the absurd, which deals with the breaking down of communication and logical thinking to almost buffoon-like acts and speech. In this production, two families having a get-together find themselves devolving into unpredictable and comical ways.
Tad Chidwood directed The Bald Soprano, which Eugene Ionesco created. The production stars Brian Hinds, Tony Pike, Victoria Reibel, Michael Roberts, Sabrina Spalding, and Karina Strange.
More information on the show can be found at the Savage Rose Classical Theatre Company [6] website.
