What happens when two horror fanatics invest their life savings into creating a haunted theme park?  A whole lot of drama, humor, and a road through Louisville, Kentucky that has been riddled with pitfalls, interesting characters, and crowning achievements.

This documentary from Thoughtfly Films is about Asylum Haunted Scream Park (a Halloween attraction in Valley Station) and will premiere on July 27 in the Galt House Hotel’s Cochran Ballroom as part of the Fright Night Film Fest. The first fifty people through the door will receive a free commemorative “Monsters Wanted” poster. The party begins at 7p.m. with a filmmaker meet-and-greet, live sideshow entertainment, and refreshments. The movie premiere will follow at 8 p.m.

Thoughtfly Films might be recognized as creators of the horror film "Overtime," which debuted at the same film festival in 2011, winning "Best of the Fest." It  can now be found in Wal-mart and other stores.

“We’re so excited to be returning to Fright Night and Fandomfest,” says the film’s director, Brian Cunningham. “We love this city and can’t think of a better place to premiere a movie about passion, dreams, and all things scary.”

The movie is the result of over 200 hours of footage (collected over two years) and follows the Asylum Haunted Scream Park’s first year in operation, exposing all of the challenges along the way. Owners Richard Teachout and Janel Nash are the main subjects of the film and  will be alongside the filmmakers at the screening to answer audience questions.

“It’s a great mix of horror, comedy, and real-life drama,” says the film’s co-director Joe Laughrey. “But at its core, ‘Monsters Wanted’ is about following a dream at all costs.”

The movie also features music by local favorites The Villebillies, OK Zombie, and Two Pump Chump in addition to acclaimed indie rock bands Sick of Sarah and Viva Viva.

Tickets can be purchased through the Fandom Fest website. [4] More [5] information is available at the film web site. [6]

The Asylum Haunted Scream Park boasts four terrifying attractions at one scary location: Trail of Darkness Falls, The Living horror movie Zombie City, a live-action shoot-em-up called XTerminate, and The Carnivale of Lost Souls Sideshow.
