Richard Mills is the co-founder of Buck Creek Valley Rescue [4], a 501c3 non-profit rescue, and he’s about to embark on a long distance ride to raise desperately needed funds for the rescue. Richard will be riding one of the rescue horses that came to the rescue named Willie. Willie is a 6 year old pinto walking horse that came to the rescue in 2012 and was severely abused, being hit in the head with 2‘ by 4‘ boards. Willie was abused and suffered terribly but thanks to Buck Creek Valley Rescue‘s patient care and love he is now a healthy gentle horse who is about to help out those who helped him by focusing attention to and raising funds for the rescue.
Richard and Willie will begin their long distance journey at the Falls of the Ohio in Clarksville, Indiana on July 27, leaving at about 10 am, and ride their way to Great Falls, Montana. You can follow their 2800 mile journey from Indiana to Montana on the Rescue’s Ride to Rescue Buck Creek facebook page here [5].
Buck Creek Valley Rescue recently took in two horses that needed veterinary care and feed. Hope is a 6 year old Belgian mare that had a broken pastern bone and bad infection of her foot and needed surgery, which she got through Buck Creek Valley Rescue. The other horse, Ellie, is a 7 year old Arab mare that was severely emaciated and is now doing well with the care and feed she is getting at the rescue.
It is expensive to provide the care and medical needs of neglected and abused horses so Buck Creek Valley Rescue is in desperate need of contributions to continue their mission of helping the horses under their care, that number currently stands at 29. If you would like to make contributions to the Ride to Rescue Buck Creek Valley Rescue endeavor to support Richard and Willie you can do so by mailing contributions to: Ride for Rescue, 4700 Shewmaker Lane S.E., Elizabeth, Indiana, 47117. All contributions are tax deductible and a 501c3 receipt will be sent to all contributors.
