Bit to Do [1]
By Erin Nevitt [3]

According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac website, www.almanac.com [4], the summer solstice began today, Friday, June 21, 2013 at 1:04 a.m. Summer solstice, commonly referred to as the first day of summer, is the day we enjoy the most daylight for the entire year. The sun will reach its most northern point at precisely noon, local time, and after that hour daylight slightly decreases in length each day.

So, what should you do to celebrate the longest day of the year? See this local event happening this evening by clicking here [5]. Spend the longest day of the year outdoors and see how many things you and your family can do to make the sunlight last! Try your hand at one of these fun backyard games [6]. Have a date night planned? Check out this list of some fantastic places to dine al fresco [7] and soak up those daylight hours this evening. Head to the library [8] and check out some of these books about summer solstice and read up together at a local park [9], playground, or sprayground [10].
