For the Sports fans:

University of Louisville [4] basketball single-game tickets are still available for some games.  You won’t get UK vs. UofL, but several games have open seats. $85 buys a pair.

Tickets are also available for University of Kentucky [5] men’s basketball.  Try getting seats for those early-January games, when college kids are still on winter break.

For the “Do-ers” in your life:

Try Glassworks [6], downtown. They offer “walk-in workshops” that range in price from $12.50-$135 as well as scheduled classes. Your delighted relative can create one-of-a-kind art, from ornaments and suncatchers to coasters and candy dishes. Louisville Stoneware [8] has a Paint Your Own Stoneware and Studio Tour, which includes a factory tour, studio fees, and a $20 piece of pottery that's ready for Auntie's artistic flair. They also have individual paint-your-own offerings that range from $10-$50. 

For the Theatre Lover:

Louisville is filled to the brim with many local theatre companies. Tickets to one or all of their season’s performances would not only make a great gift for your loved one, but for the company as well. Most of these not-for-profit companies produce good work on tiny budgets. Some to check out:

CenterStage [9]at the Jewish Community Center. Performances include the musical, Company in mid-January, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in February, and Avenue Q in April. Check online or call (502) 459-0660 for details. Most tickets are $18.

Clarksville Little Theatre [10] is producing Crimes of the Heart, a comedic and touching story of three sisters, beginning January 18. Tickets are $12-15. Call (812) 283-6522 for details.

Louisville’s professional theatre scene is not to be missed. These tickets are a bit higher in price, but provide a different level of entertainment.

Derby Dinner Playhouse [11] offers gift certificates in any amount (single-show/dinner tickets run $35-$44), as well as a New Year Sampler, which includes tickets and dinner to 3 shows: romantic comedy/thriller Kill Joy, musical Little Shop of Horrors and musical comedy 9 to 5, based on the movie of the same name. Actors Theatre [12] offers several options of individual performance and season-ticket packages. Gift certificates are available. Call the box office at 502-584-1205.

The Broadway in Louisville [13] series at Kentucky Center has 4 musicals remaining in the season, including Flashdance, Million Dollar Quartet, Memphis, and West Side Story. Pick up a 4-show pass starting at $100 or individual tickets as low as $25. Questions? Call  502-584-7777.
