On Saturday, August 25, from 3 to 6 p.m. grab your camera and binoculars and spend a few hours at Yew Dell Botanical Garden [4]’s Hummingbird Festival.
Hummingbird Festival activities will include the following.
- Demonstrations from experts on catching and banding hummingbirds
- Tips and advice on attracting and photographing hummingbirds from renowned hummingbird photographer, Russ Thompson
- Children’s activities including making a hummingbird outfit, storytelling, coloring, and crafting a hummingbird doll
- Hummingbird merchandise and hummingbird attracting plants for sale
- Food and refreshments
The festival is free with general admission. Adults are $7 and seniors are $5. Children under 12, active military, and current members get in free. Yew Dell is located at 6220 Old LaGrange Road in Crestwood.
Yew Dell Botanical Gardens is a 34-acre public botanical garden and horticulture resource center offering garden, plant, and environmental educational programs for all levels, including informal hands-on workshops, casual plant walks, and community events. Yew Dell is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a Preservation Project of the Garden Conservancy, a national non-profit dedicated to preserving the nation's most exceptional gardens.
