Louisville Central Community Centers, Inc. [4] (LCCC) and Grand Lyric Theatre Productions presents From No Town To Motown, a celebration of acclaimed African - American music on February 26, 2012, at 5pm in the Eifler Theatre at the Clifton Center. This production is a fundraiser for the LCCC’s Kids Art Academy which is a youth development program that focuses on the arts education and serves over 200 school age youth annually.

This production will be headlined by Darryl Van Leer’s “Rubycat Lawson’s Roadhouse Lounge”, a foot-stomping musical tale of the owner of a once famous blues and rocking juke joint. Mr. Van Leer has performed in more than 300 one man shows that highlight great African - American performers such as Ray Charles, Little Richard, Lionel Richie, Muddy Waters.

Kevin Powell, nationally renowned activist, speaker, and entrepreneur, will also be making a special appearance.

Closing the event will be members of the Kids Art Academy under the direction of Gregory Rahming, international opera singer and star of Broadway, performing a medley of music of the African rhythms, gospel, spirituals, blues, jazz, highlighting the acclaimed Motown sound. Tickets for this event are $20. in advance, and $25. day of show. A discount group rate of $18. for groups of 10 or more can purchased at the Louisville Central Community Center located at 1300 West Muhammad Ali Blvd. For more information call: (502) 583-8822.
