It is that time of year again… And no, I am not speaking of Halloween. (It is THAT time of year, too, though.)
No – what I speak of is way scarier than a decapitated zombie with a sawed-off shotgun chasing you through a corn maze in Bullitt County. (Well, maybe…)
It’s flu season [4]. And you – like me – will soon be forced to make the decision: To be shot, or not to be shot (by a needle full of vaccine that is – not by the shotgun-wielding zombie).
Sorry if that whole thing was confusing… It’s just that the vaccine concept makes me a little dizzy. This is mostly because I got the chicken-pox vaccine as a teenager and quickly got full-blown chicken pox. Not being able to do anything but bathe in oatmeal for an entire semester of your sophomore year would have made you a little paranoid about modern medicine, too. But I am also now old enough to understand how much I truly hate being sick. Thus the vaccine is starting to seem like a great idea.
If you enjoy using needles to avoid pain (strictly in a legal medical sense, that is), Norton Healthcare is making getting your flu shot this season as easy as going to the mall. Take $25 and wear a loose-fitting shirt to Mall St. Matthews or Jefferson Mall this Saturday from 11am-3pm.
Just a few restrictions on this – You must be 18 and if you are currently pregnant, your OB needs to send a note. Also – you won’t need $25 if you have Medicare Part B (with proper ID and Medicare card).
