Horses who were impacted by the March 2 tornadoes can get help through the U.S. Equine Disaster Relief Fund. This fund is managed by the Kentucky Horse Council. Through financial support from individuals and companies in Kentucky and around the country funds are raised. Funding is awarded to state and local agencies who are actively engaged in post natural disaster care and rescue of impacted horses.
This fund provides assistance with feed, temporary shelter, fencing, and other related needs. The Fund works with State Horse Councils and County Extension Offices to identify the needs of horses displaced by natural disasters such as the March 2 tornadoes.
