Varieties of music, performance, and theater styles will be on display during the Kentucky on Stage showcase beginning later today.
Three sessions on Dec. 8 and two sessions on Dec. 9 will feature showcases of theatre, dance, music, storytelling, and performance. All sessions will take place at the Clifton Center, located at 2117 Payne Street [4] in Louisville.
Session one, beginning at 11:10 a.m., will include the variety act of Divas and Dogs. Diane Wasnak and Barb Polk will present a physical, musical showcase tha twill include stunts from their pooch pals. Session two, beginning at 1:45 p.m., will include the theatre group Roadside Theater. The musical-creating and touring group will present shows based on its home in the Appalachian area.
Angela Bartley is included in the final session of the day, which begins at 3:35 p.m. Bartley is know for portraying woman who have a hand in creating history, including Rosie the Riveter.
On Dec. 9, the first session, beginning at 11 a.m., will include Octavia Sexton's storytelling. The eastern Kentucky-native will share stories passed down from English, Irish, and Cherokee ancestors. The final session, starting at 2 p.m., will include music from the Juggernaut Jug Band, Hog Operation, Appalatin, and The Downtown County Band.
