Last night, the Louisville Metro Planning Commission
rejected Kroger’s request to rezone the Hollywood Video area site to allow for a gas station
[4] south of its store at 2410 Bardstown Road. Additionally, it denied a request to use the space for off-street parking.
Residents—700 of whom signed a petition protesting the proposal and several dozen of whom gathered at the Old Jail Building at Armory and W. Liberty—cited traffic, noise, groundwater pollution from leaking fuel and a decrease in property values among their concerns. Experts on behalf of Kroger, however, disputed these claims.
Despite a lack of approval from Public Works, Kroger can still move ahead on the plan should it win an appeal. The company has thirty days to file.
