If jamming bluegrass [4] isn't your style--or you want an earlier start--drop by Phoenix Hill Tavern [5] for Eddy Metal [6]'s 10th Anniversary Original Rock Showcase on Friday, January 8.
Picking up the torch left behind by the dearly departed Toy Tiger a decade ago, the Hill has become the area's premier spot for original local music and bigger national acts coming through on their their small-venue tours--and Eddy's still putting together Louisville's longest running original rock showcase.
It's an evening of thrash, trash, metal and progressive rock all over the Hill, with "modern party rockers" Grindstone, Kentucky Death Wish, Inner Blue, E Flat, Trust Divided, Sever this Illusion and Strumbeat raising the Roof Garden and down below in the Taproom. That's a lot of music--but then, it's been a lot of years.
Phoenix Hill is located at 644 Baxter Avenue and the 21-and-over show starts at 8:00 and runs all night--well, until 4:00 A.M. Tickets are $5; call 589-4957 for information.
