Edgewood Kicks Off 2011 "Hot Country Nights" Series The hottest concert series of the summer returns to Fourth Street Live! - Hot Country Nights 2011! The sizzling concert series kicks off on Friday, June 3 with Louisville favorite Edgewood! This awesome country band brings its high-energy sets and amazing live show to the Hot Country Nights stage! Show starts at 8 PM. Hot Country Nights is presented by Red Stag and Bud Light, the official beer of Fourth Street Live! and 97.5 WAMZ. All Hot Country Nights concerts are FREE and open to all ages. On concert nights, patrons under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a legal guardian until 9 PM. After 9 PM, only 21 and over will be admitted. Hot Country Nights runs Friday nights, June 3 through August 26, only at Fourth Street Live! June 3, 8-11 p.m. Exhibit, "20/20 Vision: Travels Along America's Accidental Highway, Photography by Jan Albers and Karen Titus" From 1989 to 1995, artists Jan Albers and Karen Titus took photographs and interviewed people they encountered along U.S. Route 20, the longest transcontinental highway in the United States (3,365 miles). Reaching from coast to coast, it begins in Boston, MA and continues through 12 states, ending at the Pacific Ocean in Newport, Oregon. U.S. Route 20 enters Indiana in the Northeast corner and then follows the northern edge of the state, passing through Lagrange, Elkhart, South Bend, Michigan City and Gary. During their journey, Albers and Titus documented sites, events, and stories of people who live and work along this road. June 3–7 p.m. Bike MS: Bike the Bluegrass Bike MS 2011: Bike the Bluegrass will be held on Saturday, June 4 and Sunday, June 5. The Kentucky Southeast Indiana Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society will hold its 25th annual Bike MS: Bike the Bluegrass on June 4-5, 2011. This year riders can expect a whole new ride with even more excitement. Riders will meet at St. Catharine College in Springfield and travel alongside beautiful horse farms through bourbon county before returning the college. There will be 25, 50, 75 and 100-mile options with rest stops every 10 – 12 miles and Scheller’s Fitness and Cycling mechanical support vehicles all along the way. Upon returning to the college riders will be shuttled to an exclusive reception at Maker’s Mark Distillery with private tours, bottle dipping, dinner, program and entertainment. June 4–5 Americana World Festival Americana Community Center's twenty-first annual Americana World Festival: "Where Louisville Meets the World" will take place on Saturday, June 4 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. This is a free, family friendly event that celebrates Louisville's multiculturalism. Exciting international music and dance will be presented throughout the day, and delicious food will be sold representing a wide variety of cultures. Colorful community resource booths will be offered by local vendors and exhibitors, and there will be a raffle with tons of great prizes from local businesses! There will also be a KidsZone offering fun activities for youth, and the Third Annual Americana World Festival Soccer Tournament, occurring throughout the day. All are welcome to come and enjoy the sights, sounds and tastes of the city's diversity! June 4, 11 a.m.–9 p.m. LA Phil LIVE: Gustavo Dudamel Conducts Brahms LA Phil LIVE is an immersive sight and sound experience, featuring full concert performances with the Los Angeles Philharmonic led by its dynamic music director Gustavo Dudamel, broadcast live from Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. Power and beauty can be heard throughout Brahms’ Fourth Symphony, from the tragic first movement – the composer at his most dramatic and passionate – through the requiem-like second and surprisingly joyful third, to the climactic final chords of the forceful last movement. Dudamel also is joined by brothers Renaud and Gautier Capuçon for Brahms’ towering Double Concerto, Brahms’ final orchestral work. June 5, 5–8 p.m. |
