Betrayal and deception in one show, comedy in the other. Savage Rose Theatre Company will present two shows in repertory, The Changeling and A Midsummer Night's Dream, beginning tonight.
The Changeling and A Midsummer Night's Dream will be performed in repertory, meaning a different show each night. The Changeling will be performed on Dec. 8, 10, 14, and 16 at 7:30 p.m. each night and on Dec. 17 at 2 p.m. A Midsummer Night's Dream, meanwhile, will go on Dec. 9, 12, 15, and 17 at 7:30 p.m. and on Dec. 18 at 2 p.m.
All shows will take place in the MeX Theater at the Kentucky Center for the Arts, located at 501 West Main Street [4] in Louisville.
Tickets for the 2 hour, 15 minute show are $16 per person. Tickets to both shows are $30 per person. Also, industry night shows, on Dec. 12 for A Midsummer Night's Dream and Dec. 14 for The Changeling, are $11 per person. All tickets can be purchased at the Kentucky Center box office, the Kentucky Center website [5], or by calling the box office at 1-800-775-7777. More information on the show can also be found at the Savage Rose [6] website.
Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream is a lighthearted piece that features four lovers and a group of actors who will find their lives completely upended thanks to a little fairy magic. The Changeling, meanwhile, features lies and deception as a noblewoman seeks to get rid of a potential suitor.
Julane Havens directed A Midsummer Night's Dream, and J. Barrett Cooper directed The Changeling. The Changling was created by Thomas Middleton and William Rowley.
A special lecture will take place before each show on Dec. 14 and 15 at 7 p.m. These are free with admission.
Following the repertory shows, Savage Rose will present The Importance of Being Earnest. That show will run in March 2012.
