A funny thing happened while some were counting their oranges, Cincinnati (and WV) won and now U of L is headed THE BELK BOWL. [4]
The first question most people have is "BELK BOWL, what the hell is the BELK BOWL?" It was started in 2002. It's a bowl game named after a chain of department stores based in North Carolina. It's played at Bank of America Stadium
It is also named "Ugliest Bowl Name [5]" as it made it on the "Top 5 Worst Bowl Names for 2011-12" [6]from college sports site BleacherReport.com Yep it made TOP 5! (entire list is here [6]).
And, not to add insult to injury, but THE BEEF O' BRADY BOWL (U of L won it last year 31-28) is also on the list. [7]
But while some will make fun of the funky-named bowls U of L is attending, you can take some solace in the fact that U of L is the ONLY team in Kentucky going bowling!
