St. Nicholas Abbey upsets the Breeders' Cup Turf [Breeders' Cup] [2]

Aidan O'Brien's St. Nicholas Abbey with son Joseph O'Brien aboard captured the $3 million Breeders' Cup Turf by two and a quarter lengths over Ryan Moore-piloted Sea Moon.

The O'Briens become the first father-son/trainer-jockey team to win in the history of the Breeders' Cup, and Joseph O'Brien at eighteen years, five months became the youngest jockey to win a Breeders' Cup race, surpassing Fernando Jara-- who won the 2006 Classic aboard Invasor at eighteen years, ten months.

"It's a dream come true," said Joseph O'Brien.

Aidan O'Brien praised his son.

"This is very special," Aidan O'Brien said. "He is an amazing rider."

For the win, St. Nicholas Abbey paid $15.60, $7.20 and $5.40 with Sean Moon returning $5.00 and $4.20. Brilliant Speed paid $7.00 to show.
