3 days after moving to Louisville I got lucky.
I was driving down Payne Street, in the Phoenix Hill neighborhood, when I saw a $20 bill in the road. It was just laying there. Andrew Jackson winking at me in the midday sun! I stopped, dodged traffic like frogger, and picked it up. I popped it in my pocket and thought "what a lucky town." Now years later I finally have the stats to back up that feeling.

Men's Health magazine just named Louisville the 9th luckiest city in America. 9th! How, you may ask, does one determine what makes a city “lucky?”
Men’s Health looked at the cities with the most winners of Powerball, Mega Millions, and Publishers Clearing House sweepstakes; most hole-in-ones, fewest lightning strikes (including the fatal kind) and deaths from falling objects; and least money lost on lottery tickets and race betting. A little more complicated than just finding cash in the road but impressive nonetheless.
Who’s the luckiest? San Diego was # 1 and Charlestown, West (by gawd) Virginia was unluckiest at #100. (btw: Indianapolis was #17, Cincinnati was #22 and Lexington was #59)
The full list comes out with the magazine on Tuesday, but you can see it just CLICK HERE [4].
I just hope your luck holds...cause a week after I found that $20, I had the wheels stolen off my car! Ah, lady luck giveth and taketh away!
In your opinion what makes Louisville lucky?
