On Tuesday afternoon Mayor Greg Fischer's office announced that Justin Scally [4], the Interim Manager of Disaster Response for the Humane Society of the United States, will fill the role of director at the Louisville Metro Animal Services agency.

Previous to his initial interim manager position for the HSUS, Scally was the director of the Wayne County Department of Animal Control Services in North Carolina  where he was also a special deputy sheriff and volunteer firefighter. He's spent countless hours finding shelter for homeless animals and rescuing thousands of dogs from puppy mills country-wide.

Scally's new position at LMAS will be announced to the public this afternoon. He'll be taking the place of assistant director Jackie Gulbe. According to WAVE 3 News, Gulbe "resigned effective at the end of the month. Her decision came after an incident Memorial Day weekend when Gulbe apparently dropped off a dog in a bag after it bit her.

"Gulbe was suspended after the incident but will not face charges. Metro Animal Services ruled it was poor judgment to bring the dog in a bag, not criminal wrongdoing."
