Fundraising Event for Local Alzheimer’s Chapter To be “An Affair to Remember”
Guests at the Alzheimer’s Association’s annual “Making Memories” wine tasting and auction will enjoy learning about a selection of Brown-Forman fine wines, and will have the opportunity to bid on luxurious auction items. The event will be held at Horseshoe Casino in Southern Indiana on Feb. 18.
Based on the theme, “An Affair to Remember,” the fundraiser will feature wine tasting, dinner and live music. Among the items up for bid is a South African safari.
The event benefits programs of the Alzheimer’s Association’s Greater Kentucky & Southern Indiana Chapter, including the 24-Hour Helpline, Medic Alert/Safe Return Program, Family Support Groups and respite for caregivers. See www.alz.org/kyin.
The Making Memories 2011 Honorary Chairpersons are the Mudd Sisters, a local group of women who are champions in the fight against Alzheimer’s Disease. The sisters’ mother, Trudy Mudd, has suffered from Alzheimer’s for nearly 20 years.

Bourbon tasting, fund rising, fine dining
The Historic Seelbach Hilton will host the "3rd Annual Old Fiends Along the Kentucky Bourbon Trail," a progressive dinner and bourbon tasting, on Saturday Feb. 19 at 6:30 pm. A portion of the evening's proceeds will benefit Old Friends, the Thoroughbred retirement facility in Georgetown, KY. Tickets are $100 and can be reserved by calling the hotel at (502) 585-9292. "Improving Our Connection With Nature & Preview of Dancing with Thoreau" By Chris Korrow
Enjoy an evening with award winning filmmaker, photographer, author, naturalist and sustainability pioneer Chris Korrow. His documentaries, Garden Insects and Frost Flowers, have aired nationally on PBS.
Chris will talk about our connection with nature and how this connection can not only improve our gardening experience, but all aspects of our lives. Twenty year ago, Chris moved to a rural KY farm, built a solar-powered home, and started an organic vegetable business. Together with his family, Chris works hard to live a sustainable lifestyle from growing almost all their food to hand-baling water from a well.
He will also show a preview of his current work in progress, Dancing with Thoreau.
