The Brown Hotel Hosts its 6th Annual Bridal Experience: Plan Your Dream Wedding in Just One Night!

The Brown Hotel invites brides-to-be and their guests to attend its 6th Annual Bridal Experience on Friday, January 21, 2011 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Brides are invited to attend the event free of charge. The admission cost for guests of the bride is $15 per person. The Brown Hotel offers complimentary parking for the event. The Brown Hotel Bridal Experence is unlike any other bridal show. It is luxurious, sophisticated, and puts the bride-to-be directly in contact with Louisville's most elite wedding professionals.

Brides and their guests will experience a mock wedding reception held in the elegant Crystal Ballroom. Each guest table will be decorated in different themes giving brides many design possibilities to consider for her wedding. Exclusive bridal industry vendors, from photographers and florists to wedding cake designers, will present their services in an intimate atmosphere. Louisville Scooter Group Weekend Ride!

The purpose of Louisville Scooter Group is to bring scooter riders of all types to meet and ride together. Any scooter (or even motorcycle) riders are welcome--we refuse to discriminate. Sign up soon to join us in this great weather! We are open to any suggested rides, but will mainly tour around Kentuckiana. Events are open to any scooter model and to people of all ages and backgrounds. It doesn't matter if your ride cost $40,000 or $400. If it has less than four wheels, come join us! If it starts and runs as well, come ride with us!!! There are many beautiful roads to explore!

ArtsWORK-New Albany Networking and Workshop: Al Gorman

ArtsWORK-New Albany is presenting a series of free monthly workshops at the Carnegie Center for artists focusing on career development skills and issues faced by artists with disabilities. On Saturday January 22, 2011, from 10-11 am, Al Gorman, artist and Director of Studio Arts for Zoom Group, will be discussing StudioWorks, a unique studio/gallery for adult artists with developmental disabilities, and what he looks for in an artist’s portfolio. Zoom Group is a not for profit organization devoted to helping adults with developmental disabilities experience a sense of belonging to the community. Pre-registration required (812-944-7336).

Hunter Embry's Indie Showcase at Stevie Ray's

The monthly, Hunter Embry's Indie Showcase returns this wednesday to Stevie Ray's with The Whiskey Bent Valley Boys, The Tunesmiths and members of The Bad Reeds.

The Whiskey Bent Valley Boys [1], a traditional bluegrass outfit will open the evening, followed by an acoustic, blues/rock set by members of The Bad Reeds [2]. Also. the heavily soulful, blues/rock outfit, The Tunesmiths [3]will make their showcase debut.

Doors will open at 8 p.m. and music will start at 9 p.m.

A Short History of the Early Guitar
