With summer just around the corner, there’s no better time than the present to figure out what to do with your offspring while you labor at the daily grind. Fortunately for your artistic youngsters, the Louisville area is replete with camps to fit their dramatic tendencies.

Alley Theatre for Young Audiences  [4]

Drama camp culminating in a full scale performance

Ages 8-12

Cost: $325 for a three-week session from 10:00am-2:00pm

CenterStage Academy at the Jewish Community Center [5]

Camp dates based on age of child; children will work in acting, singing and dancing

Grades K-6

Cost: Varies from $347-$385 for two-week camp. Member discount.

Derby Dinner Playhouse, Clarksville, IN [6]

Several camps to choose from, including a one-day Camp Pinkalicious for 5-6 yr olds

Musical Theatre Camps for ages 7-16 (campers are divided into age groups) 

Cost: $175 for one week camp (daily, 9:00-3:00)

Squallis Puppeteers [7]

Teaches youngsters to be puppeteers and incorporate drama techniques

Ages 5-12 

Cost: $125 for half day (5/6 yr olds 9:00-1:00) $200 for full day (9:00-4:00)

Kentucky Shakespeare Festival—Camp Shakespeare [8]

Camps range in length from one to seven weeks, introducing campers to theatre through Shakespeare

Ages 4-18 in various programs

Cost: varies from $200-$650

Looking for Lilith Theatre Camp [9]

Campers will develop acting skills as well as life skills. Older students will explore improv and playwriting as well.

Ages 5-14

Cost: $150 per week (discount for siblings).  Ages 5-8 9:00am-1:00pm; ages 9-14 1:00pm-4:00pm

Teen Theatre Institute with Looking for Lilith [10]

Full-day specialized training in acting, voice, movement and character. 

Grades 9-12

Cost: $300 for one week
