With the high school football season nearing an end, it's time to take a look at the top candidates to win the 2010 Mr. Football award. Here is a look at eight players making a strong case to take home the hardware.

Ballard's DeVante Parker is making a strong case to win this season's Mr. Football award.

1.

DeVante Parker

[4] - Ballard

Ballard wide receiver Parker has had an outstanding senior season. The 6-foot-3, 180 pound University of Louisville commit has caught 51 passes, for 1445 yards and 15 touchdowns.

2.

Lamar Dawson

[5] - Boyle County

Dawson, a 6-foot-2, 230 pound linebacker, is the top college prospect in the state. The four-star has led Boyle County to a 9-0 record. He has 107 tackles on the season.

3.

DaMarcus Smith

[6] - Seneca

Smith, a 6-foot-1, 180 quarterback, has had a great senior season. Smith, a University of Louisville commit, has completed 110-226 passes, for 1923 yards and 21 touchdowns.

4.

Josh Forrest

[7] - Paducah Tilghman

Paducah Tilgman is one of the top teams in Class 3A and Forrest is a big reason why. The 6-foot-4, 220 pound University of Kentucky commit has scored 11 touchdowns this season.

5.

Jon Davis

[8] - Eastern

Davis, another University of Kentucky commit, has carried the ball 139 times, for 830 yards and 11 touchdowns. The 6-foot-3 233 pounder has also caught 18 passes, for 212 yards and two more scores.

6.

Anthony Hickey

[9] - Chirstian County

Hickey is one of the top basketball players in the state but the 5-foot-11, 165 pounder is also pretty good on the football field too. He has completed 58-100 passes this season, for 915 yards and 14 touchdowns. He has also carried the ball 91 times, for 551 yards and seven more scores.

7.

Bubba Tandy

[10] Christian County

Hickey has had a great senior season but so has Tandy. Tandy recently set a state record by returning four punts for touchdowns in a win over Ohio County.

8.

Jerrell Moore

[11] - Fern Creek

Fern has struggled this season, only winning three games, but Moore has been productive. The 5-foot-11 175 pounder has scored 11 touchdowns on the season.
