Dress for Success [4] "promotes the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life."
A professional appearance is so important in business today and I'm proud that Louisville has such a program.
I was thrilled I had the opportunity to meet Betty Fox, the woman behind Dress For Success, at its He Said/She Said art and fashion show at the River Bend Winery [5] (118 S. 10th St.) on Thursday night.
The fashion show was cast with size 0-12 models. Every model had a unique look, and every outfit was from local designers. That's really what this world is filled with; we are all different and it was brave for someone to say that. Many fashion shows say they are attracting all woman but really it's only for limited sizes. For the people that need this program I was pleased, Dress for Success let it be known that anyone can look fantastic.
My favorite part about the evening, however, was meeting the artists. One artist stood out in my mind: Not only did I get to see his work but I was able to actually watch him work. The artist's name is Eddy Santiago. His paint-splatter art was beautiful and mesmerizing.
