Pandora Productions announced the lineup for its upcoming  2009-2010 season with five productions. 
 
The new season kicks off on Thursday evening, September 24, with The Rocky Horror Show.  By Richard O’Brien, Rocky Horror is the madcap story of an ordinary couple and one unforgettable night at the castle of Dr. Frank-N-Furter, a mad scientist from the planet Transexual. Lead characters Brad and Janet have arrived on a very special night, that of the creation of Dr. Furter's ‘beautiful creature’ Rocky, the Adonis humanoid created specifically for the release of the good doctor’s ’tension’. This cult classic is a package of twisted romance and 16 songs including "Sweet Transvestite", "Whatever Happened To Saturday Night?”, and the now-classic karaoke anthem, "The Time Warp".  Performances through Sunday, October 4.
 
The Kathy & Mo Show - Parallel Lives is the acclaimed comedy by Kathy Najimy and Mo Gaffney that debuted off Broadway and later became a wildly popular HBO special of the same name.  Kicking off on Thursday evening, November 5, the production is a montage of scenes featuring a wide variety of characters, encompassing all ages, genders, and backgrounds, all portrayed in an insightful commentary on everyday life.  From the opening scene with two supreme beings planning the beginning of the world, to two actresses playing a man and woman together in a country-western bar, Parallel Lives is a celebration of the diversity of modern perspectives from a uniquely female point of view.  Upon its opening the show was hailed as playful, post-feminist satire and sketch comedy at its best; two decades later it continues to live up to its original content, delivering a theatrical experience as contemporary, topical and entertaining today as it was then.   With performances through Sunday, November 15.
 
On Thursday evening, January 7, 2010, Pandora presents the regional premier of a sassy, satirical spin on the classic tale of Cinderella, Ron Lytle’s award-winning musical Oh My Godmother!  This brash and bawdy theatre event is all about Albert, a love-struck gay teen in San Francisco with a haughty, homophobic Stepmother, two odious stepsisters, and a drag-loving Godmother.  Others characters include the leading queens of Castro Street who worry that their adopted son Prince, through a twist of fate, is questioning his own sexuality.  The musical score is in the toe-tapping tradition of Irving Berlin, Rogers & Hammerstein and Cole Porter, and provides a showcase of showstoppers including “Cinder-Albert”, “Somebody for Everybody”, “Fabulous!”, “Old Fashioned Commitment Ceremony”, “Bitch” and “It’s A Boy”.  Performances run through Sunday, January 17, 2010.
 
As Bees In Honey Drown, a satirical comedy about the pitfalls of the unquenchable hunger for fame, by Douglas Carter Beane, the same playwright behind last season’s The Little Dog Laughed, debuts on Thursday evening, March 11, 2010.  Eager almost-famous artists, musicians, and authors are displayed as easily trapped victims of con artists who promise big, yet empty, dreams. Alexa Vere de Vere, a flashy fast-talker who captivates and takes advantage of these victims, has a new target in Evan Wyler, an aspiring New York writer. Alexa meets with Evan, asking him if he will write a screenplay based on her glamorous life story which will require him to follow her around and take notes. She promises him fame and fortune in return--the same things she has promised, but never given, to so many others. Evan’s trust soon gives way to suspicion and the tables then begin to turn with sweet revenge.  Performances through Sunday, March 21, 2010.

Find out as Pandora presents Pageant: The Musical, premiering Thursday, May 6, 2010.  A wild and funny satire of beauty contests, Pageant is a "musical performance like no beauty pageant you've seen before", according to Pandora.  Live at every performance six contestants battle it out for the title of Miss Glamoresse.  Judges picked from the audience determine a different winner at every performance with the contestants competing in several categories including swimsuit, physical fitness, spokesmodel and beauty crisis counseling. Did we mention all the contestants are played by men?  This is definitely not your grandmother’s Miss America.  Maybe you will be chosen to help decide who gets to wear the crown of Miss Glamoresse at yet another regional premiere for Pandora audiences!  Through Sunday, May 16, 2010.
