Le Petomane’s Next Show isn’t just an evening of new, original, ensemble-created ten-minute plays – it’s an experiment in audience interaction: we (Le Petomane Theatre Ensemble) will create and perform an evening of short pieces, featuring physical comedy, masks, original music, dance and our usual weirdness.  At the /files/storyimages/of each performance, the audience will be given the opportunity to vote on its favorite.  At the /files/storyimages/of the run, the favorite will be expanded to a full evening and become our next show (hence the title), to be performed in December.

How do we do this?  We start with an idea – sometimes a full plot, sometimes an image, sometimes just a few cheap gags – and usually some other element that seemingly has nothing to do with that idea.  Then we start to play around, keeping some things and discarding others (sometimes the very ideas that got us started – though the first thing to go is usually the Ego).  Some ideas go on paper, but the show primarily comes together on its feet.  Eventually it ceases to become clear which idea was whose and the show becomes One Big Idea.   After we get enough of the show organized, staged and rehearsed that we’re sure it’s “something,” we invite in colleagues and/or friends to watch.  They laugh at some things and don’t laugh at others.  They tell us when we need to pay more attention to the audience near stage left.  We thank them.  Then we fix a few things.  Then we open.

Performances will beat The Rudyard Kipling from September 20-22 and 28-30 at 7:30 pm and tickets will be available for our usual pay-what-you-can sliding scale of $8-$20.
