Cash bar and concessions will be available. Tickets are $16 per person.

For an experience unique to Louisville and the Ohio River, visitors won't want to miss a trip aboard either the Belle of Louisville or the Spirit of Jefferson.

The majestic Belle of Louisville, the oldest Mississippi River-style steamboat in existence today, is one of an elite group of only six steam-powered paddlewheelers operating on America's waterways today. Constructed in 1914 as the Idlewild, the Belle spent 48 years as a packet boat, a tramp steamer and also had a brief military career during World War II. Jefferson County purchased the vessel in 1962 as the Avalon for $34,000 and renamed her the Belle of Louisville. Now priceless, this National Historic Landmark graces the Louisville waterfront with her tall smoke stacks and impressive red paddlewheel. Enjoy scenic river tours aboard the Belle of Louisville for sightseeing and sunset cruises from Memorial Day through Labor Day as well as other scheduled specialty cruises and dockside events.

Don't miss the many special event cruises, including a Father's Day Lunch Cruise, the 4th of July Celebration and Fireworks Cruises. Boarding begins an hour before cruise time.

The Spirit of Jefferson combines the charm of bygone river days with the comfort of modern conveniences. Built in 1963 as the Mark Twain, she was purchased as the Huck Finn and renamed the Spirit of Jefferson in 1995. The Spirit has two indoor, climate-controlled decks to accommodate cruising in all seasons. She is available year-round for private charters, group events and lunch and dinner cruises.

Scheduled luncheon cruises run Monday through Saturday with boarding at 11:30 a.m. and cruising from noon to 2 p.m. for $24. Scheduled dinner cruises Monday through Saturday board at 6:30 p.m. and cruise from 7 to 9 p.m. for $34. Senior and children prices are available for all cruises. Advance reservations are required and boarding begins one half hour before cruise time.

The Belle of Louisville and Spirit of Jefferson are perfect charter venues for weddings, corporate events, family reunions, proms and much more. The vessels also host celebrations for some of Louisville's most distinctive events including Thunder Over Louisville and the Great Steamboat Race.

For additional information on public cruises, special events and private charters, call 502.574.2992 or visit www.belleoflouisville.org. Sightseeing tickets may be purchased prior to boarding at the ticket office and gift shop, located on the Andrew Broaddus at the Fourth Street Wharf.
