February marks winter’s coldest period. While you may be yearning for warmer temperatures, there is at least one winter treat to perk up these final frosty days: hot chocolate. Here’s a short list of eateries and coffee shops that make hot chocolate and other chocolate beverages to keep you warm until the first day of spring.

Java Brewing Company’s mocha latte could be nicknamed Mocha-a-go-go. Available in three sizes, depending on your chocolate craving, the espresso-based drink is infused with chocolate to satisfy hankerings for caffeine and sweets.

The decadent, dessert-like hot chocolate at Blue Dog Bakery and Cafe will help wake up even the most morning-resistant. A gourmet chocolate sauce is steamed with a mixture of equal parts half-and-half and milk, poured in a vanilla-syrup-lined mug and topped with whipped cream and a dash of ground cocoa.

The 16-ounce mug of hot chocolate at Lynn’s Paradise Cafe is reminiscent of the all-ages hot toddy mom used to mix up. Piping-hot steamed milk with undertones of chocolate syrup flavor, this version is more low-key and could be called “comfort in a cup.”   Caffe Classico brews up well-balanced flavors in both its mocha latte and hot chocolate. Using Julius Meinl espresso and Hershey’s syrup, the resulting latte is a flavor-burst of full-bodied espresso laced with bittersweet chocolate and topped with a generous amount of whipped cream. It’s served with a ginger cookie that’s perfect for dipping.
