Paul Nelson, a resident artist at Flame Run in Louisville, and Jeremy Cline, of San Francisco will have their works on display Nov. 4 through Dec. 23.

“Both gentlemen use fluid movement and strong color in their works, but their finished pieces are dramatically different,” said Marta Hewett, who owns the gallery with Diane Tobin.

Nelson’s glass sculpture looks like ancient implements or antiquities inspired by nature while Cline’s work resembles crane-like vessels with elongated necks. Nelson’s work will be displayed on the gallery’s walls, while Cline’s pieces will be on pedestals.

Nelson, 34, is a Centre College graduate with an MFA from the University of Illinois. He is one of seven resident artists at Flame Run. Cline, 40, started working with glass in 1987 at Santa Monica College, then furthered his education at the California College of Arts and Crafts and Pilchuck Glass School. In 1991 he apprenticed with Pino Signoretto, Master Glass Artist, in Murano, Italy.  Cline opened his studio, Incline Glass, in 1992.

Paul Nelson will give a lecture and demonstration at 11 a.m. on Nov. 19 at Flame Run.

Tobin-Hewett Gallery is the area's premier venue featuring distinctive works in glass for private and public acquisition.  The gallery is in the Glassworks building at 815 W. Market Street. It is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
