Are you running out of gift ideas this year? Just want to get family and friends something unique without breaking the bank? Tired of fighting with crowds at the mall? Want to do something good for others along with getting good gifts and entertaining yourself?
Has Carl Brown (AKA the Plain Brown Rapper) got a solution for you!
Introducing the 2nd Semi Annual Starving Artists’ Benefit, at the Rudyard Kipling, 422 W Oak St., Sunday December 19th, 6 PM-Midnight. Suggested $5 donation at the door.
This event is all ages and family friendly. As always, the Rud will be serving food and drink, so you can treat yourself to dinner during one of the most stressful times of the year.
The Benefit will directly help the lives of talented young artists of our community. Money collected at the door will be split equally among the twelve local artists benefited. Six incredible bands, on the hour, every hour, will rock the night:
6:00 p.m.---Myron Koch on Warr guitar and saxophone
7:00 p.m.---Five Eyes Wide
8:00 p.m.---Bonehead
9:00 p.m.---Sol 17
10:00 p.m.--Jabberwocky
11:00 p.m.--Shooting Gallery
Also, at 8:00 p.m., the electrifying Earth Mamas, a local performance dance troupe, will be expected once again to bring down the house to shouts of "encore!" Their songs, drums, chants and dances chill the bone in the demand for environmental justice and cultural evolution.
Not only can you celebrate the season by enjoying some of the finest local music Louisville has to offer, you can wrap up all your last minute Christmas shopping, not to mention, help out some of Louisville’s talented artists.
There will be a silent auction for thirty-six pieces of original art, available for those last minute Christmas gifts, with prices beginning at $20.00. Any unsold art will be auctioned off between musical performances. As another perk, many of the musicians also have CDs for sale, so you can also give the gift of music this Christmas.
Artists to be benefited are Whitney Petree, Chris Wilkey, Laurel X, Tom Slayton, Running Water, Nadera Wolford, Isabella Conaway, Ken Lucschese, Rebecca Donaldson, Rachel McFadden, John Wellington, Meredith Hayden and Pam Turner.
Give your loved ones gifts they won’t stop talking about, and certainly won’t get from anyone else! For more information, contact Carl Brown at 479-9941or plainbrownrapper2001@yahoo.com
