We know how bad Kentucky is, but we may not know how good Louisville is until the Cardinals go to Miami on Thursday, Oct. 14.

U of L's 28-0 blowout of UK before a Papa John's Cardinal Stadium record crowd of 42,681 was no surprise. For the past several weeks my Lexington sources have insisted that this may be the weakest Kentucky team since the World War II years before Bear Bryant.

The Wildcats are now short 19 scholarship players. Take away 19 scholarship players from most any team and it would be disastrous.

UK coach Rich Brooks is so short-handed that he can't do what Jerry Claiborne did his first year and redshirt all of his freshmen. Instead, he blew a year's eligibility for five of his quality freshmen against U of L: receiver Lonnell Dewalt, who caught a pass and used his 6-foot-6 height and his tremendous leaping ability to block a field goal, touted offensive lineman Micah Jones, defensive lineman Jason Leger, safety Marcus McClinton and running back Tony Dixon.
