For over three decades, Louisville Magazine has hosted Best of Louisville, the city's original reader-voted awards honoring the best restaurants, businesses, people and culture in Louisville. Each year, the city would vote for their favorites in various categories, and then we would publish the winners in our July Best of Louisville issue, along with throwing the Best of Louisville event to honor all winners and finalists.

But then, in 2019, we decided that the Louisville we love doesn't fit into boxes. It can’t be ranked first, second, third. It’s the moment the stage lights come up on your favorite local band. Or the way the bridges mirror themselves in the Ohio. Or the mail carrier who has watched your kids grow up. That’s what makes this city great. And that’s what’s in this year’s Best of Louisville issue [2], with staff, contributors and folks we’ve written about all weighing in.

No categories. No limits. Simply the best.
