Earliest childhood memory?
“Picking up our black cockapoo puppy in the yard for the first time
in my green smiley-face gown and my brother telling me to put her down because she was going to pee on me. I refused and she peed on me. Foreshadowing.”

What song’s been stuck in your head lately?
“All Prince. ‘Darling Nikki’ and ‘Illusion, Coma, Pimp & Circumstance’ both have lines about signing one’s name. ‘Nikki’ is ‘sign your name on the dotted line’ and ‘Pimp’ is ‘put your name on this pre-nup and we can all hit the disco.’ And he didn’t have a will!”

All-time-favorite album?
“Too hard. I will say the local ensemble Orchestra Enigmatic is doing Radiohead’s In Rainbows sometime in August, so that’s exciting.”

When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up?
“Restaurateur, dancer, model, fashion-magazine editor. I had a cash register and liked to wait on imaginary customers in my parents’ basement, which had a bar and pool table. They threw great parties! My parents were super-stylish and took me out with them in the late ’70s and early ’80s. Great fashion moments.”

Besides your current job, what’s the best job you’ve ever had?
“I drove foreign journalists to distilleries for the Kentucky Distillers’ Association before the Urban Bourbon Trail was coined.”

“Grandmothers’ rings, mom’s jewelry, a poem my dad wrote me in response to the note I left for my parents when I moved back in for a few months at 28 or so.”

What’s your favorite thing hanging on the walls of your home?
“A large painting by local artist Gibbs Rounsavall that resembles spokes of vintage big-bulb Christmas lights on black board.”

“Bob’s Burgers, Broad City, Inside Amy Schumer, Drunk History, Vikings on the History Channel, Archer, The Nightly Show.”

Do you have a secret talent?
“I can sing ‘Everything’s Comin’ Up Roses’ like Ethel Merman.”

If forced to get a tattoo today, what would you get?
“Sleeves. Probably floral. Dense color.”

What’s something you wish you had known when you were younger?

“Auto mechanics, finance, foreign language, to travel between college and law school, that I would be on deadline for the rest of my life
so don’t sweat it when waiting tables with a law degree. To walk away from bad people, situations and energy as fast as possible.”

What movie has the greatest ending?

“The Color Purple. Or Animal House.”

What three people would be on the guest list to your ideal dinner party?
