Go ahead and free up your Thursday, Friday, Saturday schedule. There's a lot going on.

Thursday (01/07)

Chrome Pony [4]
Zanzabar
I saw Chrome Pony in 2013 at what was once Dillinger’s in New Albany. At that time the Nashville group was this loud, fast garage punk three piece, but now that label is too simplistic. The group’s sound is tighter, more engaging, with hip-shaking, head-banging riffs and beats.

Quiet Hollers
Mayor’s Gallery Listening Room at Louisville Metro Hall
Louisville’s favorite cult/gang/band will play a free show as part of “The Mayor’s Music and Art Series.” We had a fun interview with the guys back in August, check it out here [5]!

The Hooten Hallers [6]
The New Vintage
This Missouri band brings with them the best underrated qualities of American roots. Lead singer John Randall’s vocals echo the gravelly quality of Louis Armstrong's. The group is known for their “raucous” live performance and judging by their music video, I believe it.

Friday (01/08)

X___X, Obnox [7]
Zanzabar
John D Morton’s 1978 punk band was short lived, but they’re back. The name, or pictogram, rather, was an intentional mutable design and therefore also extremely hard to search, better just check them out. It will be very “Dada” of you.

7th Annual MS Society Jam For a Cure [8]
Headliners Music Hall
Jam For a Cure features Greg Foresman, Danny Flanigan and John Mann with a special tribute to Tim Krekel.

LONG LIVE LEMMY: A Louisville Tribute to Lemmy Kilmister [6]
The New Vintage

Aby Laby Land, Plastic Melodies, Dingzui [9]
Kaiju
Here’s another local line-up this weekend. Aby Laby Land is a progressive indie jam conglomeration. They’re funky, mesmerizing and abrupt. You just never know what you’re going to get. Plastic Melodies, an interesting bass-drum duo, is also worth the listen.

The Bang Bangs, The Get Down [10]
Haymarket Whiskey Bar
A debut show for Louisville’s newest rockabilly group, The Bang Bangs. The group includes members from Squeezebot, The Ladybirds and Billy Goat Strut Revue. Also playing is 1960s surf rock trio, The Get Down.

Saturday (01/09)

91.9 WFPK 20th Anniversary Celebration Louisville All Star Jam [11]
The Brown
Celebrating 20 years of Radio Louisville! The All Star jam includes Wax Fang, Twin Limb, Howell Dawdy and members of Houndmouth.

Sea Hero, Seluah, Trophy Wives [12]
Zanzabar
Instrumental band, Sea Hero, is beautifully eerie. Seluah is also rockin’ the dark vibes but with more sinister guitars and haunting vocals. Trophy Wives? What a collection. This band showcases some of Louisville’s music scene veterans from Elliott and Coliseum.

A Reckoning – Half Step to Grateville [13]
Headliners Music Hall
Part of 107.7 The Eagle’s “Cover Up Series,” “A Reckoning” features Fat Box [14], The Merry Pranksters, Phiasco [15] and Slow Down Johnny [16].
Zoe Speaks [6]
The New Vintage
It’s a reunion folks! See the songwriting powerhouses while you can. They’re only back together for a few select shows.

Stelle Amor, The Moonlight Peddlers [6]
The New Vintage
Girl's got pipes! Stelle Amor blends styles comparable to Amy Winehouse, Lana Del Rey and Adele.

A.J. Gaither,Torque & Beans,KY Gentleman, [17]40RTY
Kaiju
A.J. Gaither is a singer/songwriter like no other. He’s a one man band playing instruments made of everything from feed buckets to scrap lumber. It doesn’t get more traditional American roots than this.

Four Skulls, Turn3, Super 5, Phone Cops, Nulydedz
Third Street Dive

Sunday (01/10)

Bluegrass Brunch
The Monkey Wrench
Cure the hangover, feed the soul with brunch and bluegrass.
