Dr. Wenn Lawson, an autistic adult will be speaking about his introspective journey with autism and share insight into how parents of autistic children can support and connect with their children to help them to succeed. As a child, Wenn was considered to be intellectually disabled by experts, but went on to prove them wrong. Today, as a parent of four children, a qualified counselor, social worker and psychologist with a PhD, Wenn is well-known and respected for his writing, poetry, and seminars based on his research and personal experiences as a person with autism. Along with Murray and Lesser, Dr. Lawson has promoted monotropism ("attention-tunnels") as a core feature of autism.
